What is a VPN, in plain English?

A VPN is an encrypted tunnel between your device and a SimplyRoam server. The network you’re on, whether that’s hotel Wi-Fi or a local mobile network, only sees encrypted traffic going to us, not the sites and apps you use. Websites see a UK IP address, so they treat you as if you were at home.

It doesn’t make you anonymous and it doesn’t block ads. It keeps your traffic private from the network in front of you.

Questions

When will my code arrive?

When you arrive at your destination and your eSIM activates on a local network. Installing it before you travel won’t trigger it. If you can’t see it, check your spam or Promotions folder and search for “SimplyRoam”.

Do I need a card?

No. You only need a free SimplyRoam account. No payment or card details are asked for, and the trial doesn’t auto-renew.

Does the VPN affect my eSIM?

No. The VPN is a separate free gift that runs in its own app. Your eSIM works exactly the same with or without it.

Can I use it on Wi-Fi and with my normal SIM at home?

Yes. It works on any connection: Wi-Fi, your travel eSIM, your normal SIM and your home broadband.

What happens when the trial ends?

The VPN simply stops. It doesn’t auto-renew and nothing is charged. You can extend or upgrade to a paid SimplyRoam plan at any time.

Which server locations are included?

The free trial uses UK servers. Paid SimplyRoam plans cover 43 countries.

Trial length is 7 days with a data plan, or up to 14 days with an unlimited plan. UK servers only. No payment or card details are required, and the trial does not auto-renew. Codes expire 6 months after they are issued. A maximum of 30 trial days can be credited per account in any rolling 30-day period.
