How to Update Your APN (Access Point Name) on Android

Last Updated: 21/08/2025

The APN (Access Point Name) tells your phone how to connect to mobile data and MMS. If you’ve installed a new SIM or eSIM and data isn’t working, you may need to set it up manually. Follow this step-by-step guide.

Before You Start

  • Turn Wi-Fi OFF (forces the phone to validate mobile data).
  • Make sure Mobile data is ON.
  • If you have Dual SIM or eSIM, choose the correct line first.
  • Keep your APN value handy (this can be found in your dashboard).

Universal Steps (Most Android Phones)

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Network & Internet (or Connections / Mobile Network on Samsung).
  3. Tap Mobile networkAccess Point Names.
  4. Tap Add (➕) or ⋮ menu > New APN.
  5. Enter the APN details from your provider.
  6. Tap Save and then select the new APN.
  7. Toggle Airplane mode ON then OFF – or restart your phone.
